The PACT Mook is the cheapest and most produced unit of PACT, and due to this has a wide number of functions and duties. Initially thought as a scout unit, the cheap yet reliable systems of the unit were the instrumental point that transformed this unit into PACt's most used [[Ryder]]. Equipped with only a laser and assault weapons, and without almost any kind of armour and a light frame, the mook is very weak in any kind of direct fight, being barely better than even its [[Pirate Grunt|pirate counterpart]]. However, the ease of production and maintenance, together with a its main characteristics fitting very well with PACT's military doctrine has set in stone its value. While the lasers and assault cannons it has are relatively weak, both serve as excellent support fire for PACT's capital ships, with its Assault being perfect to take care of enemy Ryders that get too close, and it's laser giving it some capacity against armour and helping maintain the pressure against capital ships. Not only that, being small and easy to maintain, this Ryder can actually be carried by [[PACT Cruiser|cruiser]]s and [[PACT Battleship|battleship]]s aside from [[PACT Carrier|carriers]], and has good sensors due to its original function as a scout. Its main weakness is that despite its anti-ryder role, it is usually very weak against any kind of fire (especially the assault guns that most ryders use), and that its low accuracy and shot count assault weapons may not be able to cope with even more maneuverable ryders, aside from the obvious weakness towards any kind of armoured enemy. While PACT has until now simply ignored this through sheer numbers, the lack of any strong weapons means that sometimes enemy units more focused on quality than quantity (like the [[Black Jack]]) can still overcome this. Ironically, at the beginning the PACT mooks were equipped with missiles to alleviate this weakness, but once they were decided to be used in conjunction with [[PACT Bomber]]s this feature was stripped to reduce costs. Later upgrades in the Liberation Day period gave the mook a sturdier, more nimble frame and better weapons, making it slightly more credible a threat. Slightly. ==Weapons== Equipped with only two weapons, they are more than enough for a light scout frame, but when it acts as frontline unit they are sorely lacking. ===Laser=== The laser banks allow for accurate fire from a great distance but has the lowest damage potential of all the main weapons. This weapon is countered by [[shielding]]. The weakest laser of PACT, they still present an average accuracy which makes them good as support fire weapons * damage: 140 x 1 (180 x 1 in LD) * energy cost: 70 EN * base [[accuracy]]: 100 ===Assault=== The Assault cannons can be used offensively against enemy targets and are particularly devastating against poorly armoured enemy [[Ryder]]s. Its high shot count makes it a very reliable damage dealer even against highly [[evasion|evasive]] targets. Any armour though is likely to negate most damage. A more high power version trying to compensate for its weakness against armoured units, its low shot count and accuracy means that they work only on low-grade Ryders.
