The Pirate Destroyer isn't a standard design, but more like a pirate refit of other ships. Basically a frame and reactor fitted with the maximum number of guns possible, this destroyer is the smallest non-ryder unit equipped with kinetic guns. Thought to act as support for the pirate ryders, it's both equipped with long range lasers and short range cannons for it's speciality: ambushes. Being fairly small yet still well armed, the pirate destroyer may seem like an incarnation of the "small and agile ship" thought by the new Military Doctrine. However, its actual capability in the role is very limited. Being what amounts to a redesign by rogues and thieves of captured vessels, the destroyer doesn't have any kind of protection beyond its (fairly thin for a destroyer) armour. It also has poorer evasion than the smaller PACT Missile Frigate and Mining Union Frigate, while having little durability advantage. Without any kind of shield or flak, the destroyer is easy to kill before it gets in range and generally completely defenceless against any kind of serious attack. It is only useful as an ambushing force and obsolete against any kind of military warship in a line action. Despite it, its effectiveness against lighter ships and it being a fast, easy to maintain and replace vessel means it's widely deployed by all pirates, who only expect fights against merchants and their escorts.


Despite it's size, its armament allows combat at any range, though the lack of Assault limits its anti-ryder capabilities.


The laser banks allow for accurate fire from a great distance but have low damage. This weapon is countered by shielding. Slightly less accurate and significantly less powerful than the top technology models used by the Sunrider and the Alliance Cruisers.

The main forward guns do good damage against any target it hits, but have poor accuracy. Its main use is against low evasion and high defence targets. Fairly underwhelming, its power it's actually comparable to PACTs high-power lasers, yet the accuracy is no better than their kinetics.

As of Liberation Day the gun has considerably better accuracy and damage.
